The Civil Guard intervenes almost thirty goldfinches captured, apparently illegally (26/06/2020)

| The two sanctioned residents of Cartagena had traveled to San Miguel de Salinas to capture these specimens | The Maritime Service, for its part, has proposed two vessels, Denia and Jávea, for sanction, for having allegedly caught bluefin tuna in a non-prescriptive manner  The Civil Guard has sanctioned two residents of Cartagena (Murcia), when they were caught circulating in their vehicle with 28 goldfinches, apparently captured with claim, prohibited hunting art.

Agents of the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) of the Torrevieja Civil Guard were on Sunday, June 21, carrying out a control device on CV-941, at the height of San Miguel de Salinas, when they stopped a vehicle in which two men circulated, Spaniards of 70 and 61 years of age.

When proceeding to the inspection of tourism, they found in the trunk, hidden under some sheets, a few aviaries with numerous copies of goldfinch, as well as various tools for hunting with claim, such as book nets.

Apparently, the two men, residents of Cartagena, would have taken advantage of the end of the state of alarm, to move to San Miguel de Salinas and proceed to capture these specimens.

The agents consulted, in situ, with SEPRONA about the possible commission of an administrative infraction by these two people, regarding the capture of these birds, a fact that specialists in nature protection confirmed.

For this reason, these two men were proposed for sanction, both to Law 42/2007 on Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, and to Law 13/2004 on Hunting, of the Valencian Community.

Likewise, it has been waiting for the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition, competent in the matter, to determine if the facts denounced could be constitutive, even, of crime.

Of the total of 28 rescued specimens, the 5 used as a claim have been intervened, waiting to be collected by the animal protector, while the 23 captured by said claim have been returned by the USECIC of Torrevieja to their same area and habitat , in San Miguel de Salinas.
