Development repairs eight highways affected by the cold drop in Cartagena (01/06/2020)

| They form part of the 70 regional routes in which the regional Administration has been operating since last September | The Ministry of Development and Infrastructure has already carried out repair works on eight regional highways that run through the municipality of Cartagena and that were damaged by DANA last September, to which a total of 748,375 euros has been allocated.

They are part of the 70 routes of the regional network in which 4 million euros have been invested. The Director General of Roads, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, visited today the action that is carried out on the RM-F42 highway, which connects the La Manga (RM-12) highway with Portmán, passing by the Cartagena deputation of El Llano del Beal, and which helps to protect the natural space of Monte de las Cenizas as it prevents the dragging that rains usually cause in that area. This work consists of the reconstruction of the retaining wall and the sidewalks, and the gutters are being manually outlined and cleaned to channel the rainwater.

The pavement is also being regularized at those points where runoff has occurred or the road has been severely eroded.

In parallel to this action, the Ministry is rebuilding the pavement of the regional road that connects the La Manga highway (RM-12) with the RM-314 highway between Los Belones and Atamaría. Likewise, the Community has already acted in recent months on the roads that connect La Puebla with Pozo Aledo at its intersection with the Rambla de El Albujón (RM-F28); in which it unites between Los Beatos and El Albujón (RM-311); in which it connects Los Belones and Los Alcázares (RM-F54); in which it goes between Escombreras and Portmán (RM-320); and the one from Canteras to Mazarrón (RM-E22).

In addition, another work has been carried out on the Albujón highway (RM-E33) to prevent flooding on said highway. According to the director general, the regional administration "has not yet received any amount of the advance authorized in January from the European Union Solidarity Fund for the emergency works in Dana" and urged the State to "make the distribution to the Autonomous communities of the 57 million euros approved by Brussels for this purpose, of which 10.7 million would correspond to the Region of Murcia, he said.
