MC calls on the Government to require the owners of the plots to build them (01/06/2020)

| From May 6 the City Council can do so in compliance with the Regional Land Law | José López considers that "it is time to reactivate the economy and construction in the hundreds of lots in the municipality, which serve speculation and not the general interest, it is, without a doubt, a necessary stimulus" This morning, the spokesman for the MC Cartagena municipal group, José López, has communicated the request made by his training to the local government in order for it to sue the owners of the plots to start building on them. With this demand, López reminds the Executive of Cartagena that on October 2, the municipal plenary, at the request of MC, endorsed the Cartagena initiative to demand compliance with the regional Land Law of 2015, which sets the obligation of owners of plots to build within five years from their consideration of plot. The regulations empower the City Council to force this construction and even expropriate to carry it out. In this way, José López has communicated that "we have demanded that the local government immediately require all owners of plots in the municipal area to start building them, in compliance with the 2015 Regional Land Law " The mayor recalled that "this is a legal obligation, which they promised to fulfill in the plenary session of October 2019, and of which, to date, there has been no news, despite the fact that since May 6 they could submit those requirements.

" In relation to the Government's actions, he regretted that "this is how they work, presuming that they carry out procedures 'online', but unable to initiate a procedure as expected as necessary." López has assessed the need for this measure in the current context: "It is time to reactivate the economy and construction in the hundreds of plots of land in the municipality, which serve speculation and not the general interest, it is undoubtedly a necessary shock" , adding that this would mean "a boost to the economy and an opportunity to repopulate, for example, the Historic District thanks to the expansion of supply and the consequent drop in prices that it would cause." The Cartagena spokesman has related other motivations to implement this measure.

"As we know only in this area there are about 100 lots that affect the image, generate ghettos and even pests, so if you want to do something right, now you have a chance." José López has concluded by stating that if the Government does not fulfill its obligation, "we will take it again to the Plenary Session and we will check there if they are on the side of the Cartagena community or of any promoter who may be interested in this blockade of urban development maintained by 'La Trinca' '".
