The UPCT offers all its degrees semi-presentially next year (29/05/2020)

| Students will have a maximum of 10 hours a week of classroom activities | The students of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) will carry out only 50% of the teaching in person the next course.

The Governing Council has approved the extraordinary Regulation that regulates the planning of the official university degrees and Bachelor's degrees for the 20/21 academic year. The modification of the regulation is due to the need to adopt extraordinary measures linked to the evolution of the epidemiological situation of COVID-19.

In this sense, the attendance rate is reduced to a maximum of 50% in Engineering, Architecture and Business degrees, although in some cases it could be even lower.

The rector, Alejandro Díaz Morcillo, has stated that the teachers "have demonstrated their ability so that the exhibition class activities are transferred to the online modality".Díaz highlighted that this transformation has been possible “thanks to the technological capabilities of the institution such as the real-time streaming classrooms, the virtual teaching platforms, the UPCT's own developed remote test supervision systems, as well as the support of the Digital Content Production Center ”.

The approved regulation supposes a simultaneous planning for three possible scenarios: conventional classroom teaching, blended teaching and 100% online teaching.Furthermore, although the titles will regain their face-to-face character in a scenario of complete normality as verified by ANECA, the UPCT does not rule out initiating a process of definitive adaptation to these modalities in some of its titles.

After the adoption of this measure, the departments of the UPCT must carry out the initial assignment of teaching among their teachers in order to design the subjects in these three modalities based on the training activities that have been defined.

In this context, it has been recommended that the physical presence of students in compulsory activities be restricted to those experimental, practical or problem solving sessions that are considered essential and that, in any case, will be carried out under strict compliance with the capacity established by the UPCT Occupational Risk Prevention Service within the framework of the measures derived from COVID-19.

This new organization will be applied at least during the first semester of the 20/21 academic year and with it it is allowed to facilitate from the first moment the personal planning of students, teachers and administration staff until reaching a situation of absolute normality. The definitive schedules will be specified, both for online activities and for in-person activities, which will take place during the month of July.
