| The Mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, and the President of the Port Authority, Yolanda Muñoz, have presented the new project this Friday | The roundabout of the Samson Crane will debut a new image in September with the five names that Cartagena has had throughout history.

The project, which has been presented this morning by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, and by the president of the Port Authority, Yolanda Muñoz, is currently in tender for 325,000 euros and will be financed by the Port, and includes the necessary actions to improve this entrance to the city.The project includes lighting the crane, in the center of which will be placed a totem pole with a welcome greeting and the logo of the Port Authority of Cartagena, as well as posters explaining the history of the crane in two languages ??(Spanish and English) and in Braille system.Likewise, the five names that the city has received since its foundation: the Carthaginian Qart Hadasht, the Roman Carthago Nova, the Byzantine Carthago Spartaria, the Arab Qartayannat al-Halfa and the current Cartagena, will be present at this roundabout.

The letters will be made in steel sheets cut, folded, cutting and folding the name.In front of each one of the names seasonal flowers will be placed in addition to three vegetable rings.

"It is an attractive project that helps us build a municipality and continue consolidating the neighborhoods bordering the port.

In addition, each of the plant rings will include native plants, such as lavender, thyme or esparto grass, which is a new way of presenting our idiosyncrasy to visitors who come to Cartagena through this access, "said the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón."We want that when the visitor, the tourist, arrives at the city through the entrance of Santa Lucía, with the first thing they come across is a part of the history and culture that have made Cartagena the city that it is, and nothing better that the name as it has been known from its foundation to the present day ”, has indicated the president of the Port Authority.This work is the first step in the integration project between the Port and the City.
