They claim roundabouts on intercity roads and alternative roads for agricultural vehicles to reduce traffic accidents (27/05/2020)

| The Final Degree Project of an ADE student analyzes Corporate Social Responsibility with claims | The Region of Murcia is one of the communities with the highest rate of victims in traffic accidents.

The most affected: cyclists.

The companies where these victims work have a lot to say and what to do.

This is how it appears in the conclusions of Marta García's Final Degree Project (Torre Pacheco, 1992), in which she appeals to the responsibility, commitment and involvement of both companies and citizens. The need to incorporate roundabouts on interurban highways or to urge large vehicles, such as tractors, to use alternative routes, especially at night, are some of the measures that, according to the study, would reduce the number of victims.Marta, who has just finished her degree in Business Administration and Management, has been devoted to the study of traffic accidents for two years since in 2017, she was seriously injured after suffering an accident in the Cartagena deputation of La Palma.

The incident was caused by a driver who was speeding and drinking alcohol, five young people died and three serious injuries.

According to the data analyzed in its TFG, the Region of Murcia doubles the rate of fatal accidents on interurban roads with 7%, compared to Spain, which has 3%.Those who died in these claims represent 2.5% of the total, while nationally the figure stands at 1.7%.

Another fact that highlights the study: 8% of serious injuries in traffic accidents in our Region are cyclists and 1.7% are deceased.

(Exceeds the National average of 7.5%) The Region of Murcia has one of the 10 sections with the highest risk of accidents nationwide: kilometer 7.2 of the N-345, passing through Portman (La Unión).From the analysis of the last three years, it is highlighted that there are fewer deaths in 2019 than in 1960, despite the increase in the number of automobiles, since in 1960 it had one million vehicles and in 2019 this figure rises to more than 30 million automobiles This shows, according to Marta García, that the fatality rate in terms of accidents has decreased due to the renovation of the car park, the infrastructure or road network and the decrease in infractions by drivers.According to the TFG, the Murcian car park, in general, is obsolete.

Therefore, employers and individuals have in their hands to prevent, according to the director of the job, Antonio Juan Briones Peñalver, professor in the Department of Business Economics.

Marta García also appeals to the Corporate Social Responsibility of companies.According to the study, companies must renovate the car park to ensure safer circulation.

This measure not only refers to vehicle changes, but also to schedules.

Many accidents occur at night.

For example, reducing the travel time of large vehicles, such as tractors, on intercity roads.

On some roads speed is confused with good use.Professor Briones highlights the applicability of the TFG, "Social responsibility measures in organizations for the mitigation and prevention of traffic accidents", especially as a measure of awareness among companies and citizens.

It can also be highlighted from the TFG that, even using internet sources of various kinds, it presents a CRAI anti-plagiarism report or similarity of 1%, in which we have been working since the drafting of it began, which gives it great value for its divulgation.

Briones points out that the technological investments to guarantee active and passive safety by companies are notable, since devices that are used to increase the prevention and degree of safety of their occupants are constantly incorporated into vehicles, such as, for example, emergency braking assistance.
