The mosquito crash plan begins in the provincial councils, which will require the closing of doors and windows (26/05/2020)

| The actions will take place in the early morning phase in green areas of the towns | The plan to crash against mosquitoes in the provincial councils begins this week with four actions that will cover the vast majority of Cartagena populations.

This is a specific contract for the Decentralization area, with which the aim is to reduce the presence of these insects.

Thus, in coordination with the Department of Health, the municipality has been divided into four areas that encompass the populations of the north, east, west and west coast.The works, which will be carried out by the company Control Natural de Plagas, begin early this Wednesday in Pozo Estrecho, El Albujón, Lomas del Albujón, La Aljorra, Miranda, La Aparecida, La Palma and La Puebla.

It will work in the green areas of the towns and will operate from twelve at night until eight in the morning, in order to cause the least inconvenience to citizens and to be as efficient as possible.

It will require the closing of doors and windows by the neighbors.It will be the first of four performances this week, which will be followed by interventions in:Llano del Beal, Strait of San Ginés, El Beal, El Algar, Media Legua, Vista Alegre and Alumbres, during the early hours of Wednesday to Thursday.San Isidro, La Magdalena, Residencial Buenos Aires, Molinos Marfagones, Barriada Hispanoamérica, Los Dolores and El Bohío, during the early hours of Thursday to FridayEl Portús, Galifa, Cuesta Blanca, Perín, La Azohía and Isla Plana, during the early hours of Friday to Saturday.The Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Health, Manuel Padín, explained that this shock plan will serve "to specifically affect the Cartagena deputations, which will add to the work of the concessionary company for pest control that will enhance its actions in the area of the municipality, as well as on the beaches of the east coast, with special attention to the Marina del Carmolí, the Lo Poyo land and the Salinas de Marchamalo ”.As was the case with disinfection during the onset of the health crisis due to the coronavirus, the City Council will give warnings to populations to take extreme precautions during work days.

The Consistory's information channels will also give information on the measures to be taken and advice, such as closing doors and windows, especially in low-lying areas that are close to the fumigation area; or not walking around the areas where the work was carried out until 12 noon the next day, among other aspects.FOUR MORE ACTIONS The contract signed by the City Council and the company contemplates four more actions in these same areas that will take place the weeks from June 15 to 21, from July 6 to 12 and from July 27 to 31, and from August 10 to 15 .The treatments that will be carried out by means of nebulization / pulverization ULV (ultra low volume), being the active materials to be used pyrethroids of chemical synthesis (alpha-cypermethrin, cypermethrin and Deltamethrin).The marked objective of this contract is to minimize the problems derived from the existence or proliferation of mosquito populations in the sites subject to control, ensuring their permanence below the tolerance threshold.Also determine the areas likely to become reservoirs for this particular pest, and therefore subject to control in our geographical environment; as well as remaining alert to the appearance of new species.

Finally, the aim is to avoid, prevent, minimize and adequately manage the risks associated with the pest management activity to be carried out.
