The City Council completes two months of home service with 1,800 elderly and dependents attended without contagion (19/05/2020)

| Through the four home service programs launched during the confinement, there have been no incidents among users or among workers | The City Council of Cartagena, through the four home service programs aimed at the elderly and dependents, has provided coverage to around 1,800 users during the two months of confinement, without contagions having occurred among the people served, or between the about 80 workers of the companies that carry them out.The security protocols that were established in the meeting prior to the declaration of the State of Alarm, have been essential to keep the services in security conditions, as explained by the Deputy Mayor and head of the Social Care area, Noelia Arroyo.

The mayor congratulated companies this morning for their professionalism in a coordination meeting held with the delegate councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García, and with the technicians of the council and heads of the four companies providing home services.“Through the services of Home Help, Home Telecare, Home Meals and Family Breathing we can guarantee basic care for the elderly and people with reduced mobility and we do it in their own home.

This network of home care is being especially valuable in these days that are of forced isolation for everyone, but especially for our elders.

Home services will be more necessary than ever due to the presence of the virus and our intention is to reinforce them and open them to more users who need them, "explained Arroyo.The home help service, which directly attends to household chores and assistance to people in their homes, had some voluntary casualties in the first days of confinement due to fear of contagion from its users, but also new discharges decided by the Social Services, which brought the number of users to 525.

During these two months, the coronavirus transmission protocol was applied in only three suspected cases, which were eventually ruled out.The telecare service, which allows permanent contact with vulnerable people through the installation of personal terminals, serves 538 people, of whom 12 have joined during the pandemic by decision of the Social Services.

In this period, he has received more than 580 calls, 12% of queries related to the coronavirus.

The service managed 80 emergencies, of which 8 correspond to symptoms compatible with the coronavirus.For its part, the home delivery service has served the daily diet of 185 elderly and dependent people, 20 of them incorporated into the service in these two months.

The company that carries out the distribution also took over the domiciliary distribution of more than 4,000 menus for children with a dining grant.

In addition, from the respirofFamiliar service that has helped 14 families and followed up on four users who voluntarily unsubscribed.
