| Proceedings proceed after the administrative blockade imposed by the state of Alarma is canceled | The City Council has today started the program of works on the Los Urrutias and Los Nietos sports courts and is finalizing the contracting of the docks for the bathroom and the acquisition of new furniture for the beaches.

Administrative procedures have been accelerated after the initial blocks in contracting during the state of alarm, which has allowed investments in the Mar Menor to be launched, according to the vice mayor and head of the Mar Menor municipal commission, Noelia Arroyo .The pontoons will be awarded for urgent processing, therefore, once the budget has been approved, the period for making their award will be reduced to 13 days, subject to the authorization of Costas, which is already in process.

The new contracting conditions have also enabled the purchase of beach furniture worth 125,000 euros to be unlocked, to which bids have already been submitted for their imminent award. The work of Los Urrutias, started this week, will involve the investment of 45,000 euros to convert the space located next to the social premises into a park for the enjoyment of both children and the elderly in the town. The work of Los Nietos, with another endowment of 45,000 euros, will serve to replace the perimeter fencing of the sports court, which was in very poor condition, with a more modern one within which a fenced playground will be installed. The Deputy Mayor has insisted that “we want to improve the infrastructures and services of the towns of the Mar Menor, create leisure and sports space for the residents who live all year round and for those who are approaching the summer months.

It was a commitment to the neighbors.

"The purchase of beach furniture, which is paid for with the 125,000 euros granted to Cartagena by the Ministry of Tourism, was stopped by the contracting limitations imposed after the declaration of Alarm.

It will involve the acquisition in three different lots, of 278 gangway modules, 25 pallets, 25 footbaths, 45 litter bins and 5 pergolas. In Los Nietos, where two raised steps requested by the residents will also be placed, Vía Pública has just completed the plan to replace the signs and paint.Another 100,000 euros are being processed in investments in this area destined to the improvement of lighting in El Carmolí and Punta Brava.

"A complete renovation is going to be carried out, the lighting in the El Carmolí area as well as the Punta Brava promenade is very old and what we intend is to replace it with lighting using LED technology that will allow us to achieve greater energy efficiency, lighting and aesthetics in the facilities of the area ”.Both projects have a budget of 50,000 euros each, the El Carmoli lighting improvement is in the contracting phase, while the Punta Brava promenade project is being drafted by the technicians of the Department of Infrastructure and Litoral.WORKS IN LOS ARENALESOn the other hand, maintenance work continues on the sandbanks.

In Cabo de Palos, Costas works on the conditioning of the sand that has withstood the winter storms thanks to the algae barrier that Insfraestructuras has maintained this year on the beach front on an experimental basis.
