Isabel García requests her resignation as a full-time councilor to resume her old job in the private sector (28/04/2020)

| She will be replaced by María José Soler, councilor for Transparency during the mayoralty of José López | MC spokesperson, José López, communicated this morning, by writing to the Mayor's Office, the restructuring of his municipal group by abandoning the regime of exclusive dedication to the mayor, Isabel García, who rejoins the professional activity that he previously carried out after his involvement in political life. Isabel García maintains her act as councilor of the MC Municipal Group and will continue to assume, with the same tenacity and commitment as demonstrated to date, the necessary work of control and opposition to a Government that has been confirmed as ineffective in solving the problems of Cartagena.

. A thoughtful and responsible decision García herself has been in charge of reporting the fact, communicating her dismissal "at her own request as a councilor with exclusive dedication.

My colleague María José Soler will take over from me on May 4, the date on which I returned to my job at that I've been on leave since we joined the government in June 2015.

" Then, the one who was responsible for the Department of Finance during the mayoralty of José López (2015 2017) and until January 2018, with the breach of the government pact by the former socialist, Ana Belén Castejón, has specified that It is a "personal and professional decision, long pondered and agreed with José López and the members of the Executive of my party.

I had it made before the Covid 19 health crisis, at which time my company asked me to return when it became vacant the position he held before the leave of absence.

" It will continue its work of control and inspection from the opposition In relation to the current situation, the mayor has specified that his return to his former occupations "makes more sense if possible since we all must shoulder our shoulders in this situation to get out of it.

I think that given my technical profile my greatest contribution will be from the private company, which supposes an added motivation in this new stage ". Later, he has reaffirmed his commitment to the vocation of "public service that pushed me to enter politics and do it from MC Cartagena.

I do not abandon politics as I will continue to carry out, as an opposition, my work as a control of the government, in addition to offering them solutions that they despise but that would remedy, to a large extent, their stubborn inefficiency.

I will combine it with my working hours, while I will continue defending the interests of all Cartagena.

" To conclude, the councilor of MC Cartagena has specified that "although not everyone who sits in plenary can say the same thing, I have the option of working outside politics, living from my work in the private sector, and I will do so, hoping to return to the Department of the Treasury in 2023, if the cartageneros decide so, to have the opportunity to launch all the initiatives and measures that the government now vetoes through the system.

" Excellent economic results and the most transparent council in the Region During the Cartagena phase in the municipal government (June 2015 - January 2018), García was responsible for the management of the departments of Finance, Contracting and Heritage, being his key task to return financial autonomy to the City Council, by lifting the control he exercised on the accounts the Ministry of Finance, inheritance of the infamous stage of the PP in the local Executive.

García led the remarkable reduction of the Consistory's global debt at the same time as the fiscal pressure was reduced with the revision of taxes, rates and public prices.

In addition, it decidedly promoted transparency and participation in contracting matters, breaking with the existing line until its arrival. From this moment, the councilor María José Soler will exercise exclusive dedication in the Municipal Group MC, a responsibility that she will share with José López and Jesús Giménez, spokesperson and deputy spokesperson respectively. During the first part of the previous legislature, Soler held municipal responsibilities in Transparency, work that deserved the recognition of institutions and organizations, as well as distinctions such as the Infoparticipa Seal as the Cartagena City Council is the only 100% transparent in the Region.
