The Food Industries Association of Murcia, Alicante and Albacete (Agrupal) has made a donation of about 25,000 kilos of food to Cáritas Diocese of Cartagena, whose delivery took place today at the 'Obispo Azagra' Logistics Center of the charity, located in the Murcian district of Sangonera la Seca. It is a variety of long-lasting products, such as canned fruits and vegetables, pickles, sauces and salted meats, as well as non-perishable bakery and pastry products, which have been provided in solidarity by partner companies of Agrupal. This initiative is part of the recent agreements signed by Cáritas Diocese of Cartagena, Agrupal and the National Technological Center of Conservation and Food (CTC), to reinforce the traditional collaboration that the Food Industry has maintained for years in support of people vulnerable in the Region of Murcia, within its Corporate Social Responsibility actions. In addition, the special situation that people who have been affected by the coronavirus health crisis and its social and labor consequences, which has left a significant number of citizens in a precarious situation and with serious economic difficulties, is added. In fact, the demand for food in the Region of Murcia, as in the rest of the national geography, has grown as the days have passed after declaring the state of alarm, while donations were suffering precisely because of the slowdown in the economic activity. The event was attended by the President of Agrupal, José García Gómez; and the director of External Relations of Cáritas Diocese of Cartagena, Javier Cano Fernández-Delgado, who were in charge of receiving one of the trucks that have transported the food donated by companies in recent weeks.
