Education maintains continuous monitoring of the students included in the School Absenteeism Plan during the period of confinement (20/04/2020)

| Municipal workers have already managed to contact more than 75% of these minors and send their duties electronically or even take them to their homes if they do not have internet connection | The Department of Education carries out the intervention and monitoring of those students who are in a situation of School Absenteeism with an open file.

There are currently 201 files open in the municipal area of ??Cartagena, corresponding to boys and girls who do not attend school regularly, and are between the ages of 6 and 16 years of compulsory schooling, and who are being contacted during these weeks to send them homework. As explained by the mayor of Education, Irene Ruiz, "the entire team of municipal employees of the program for the Prevention of School Absenteeism are working intensively and continuously from the first day that the state of alarm was declared by the pandemic of the COVID-19 ”.In this sense, the attention to these students, as well as to all the students in vulnerable situations, has been guaranteed from the first moment thanks to the work that is being carried out in close coordination from the council with the management teams, tutors, counselors and PTSC of all the educational centers of Cartagena. As a result of this intense collaborative work, a total of 152 boys and girls have been contacted by various means (telematic, telephone, neighbors ...).

This represents more than 75% of the cases, of which 115 are receiving tasks from their educational centers regularly and, of these, 83 children are carrying them out at home.

"This is a complete success, especially if we consider that these are habitual absentee students," recalled the councilor. For the rest of the boys and girls who do not do their homework, the workers in the Absenteeism Prevention program continue to contact them to either encourage them to work at home with school assignments received electronically or send dossiers to their homes.

of school work prepared by their tutors and tutors from the educational center, in case they do not have an internet connection.“All this work continues to continue reinforcing the students; We are ensuring that their teaching-learning process maintains continuity, despite the difficulties, "said Ruiz.

"We are aware that there are many families in our municipality who do not have the necessary means to access the learning electronically," he recalled. Finally, the mayor thanked, on behalf of the Department of Education, the enormous collaboration and involvement of teachers, both Primary and Secondary Education, for making their daily work easier.
