The mayor asks that Rosell continue to be maintained when the COVID-19 crisis ends (17/04/2020)

| Ana Belén Castejón has made the request during the meeting that the mayors of the Region have held this Friday with the president of the Autonomous Community | The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, requested today, Friday, April 17, the president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, during the meeting that they had by videoconference with the rest of the mayors of the Region, that the current activity of the Santa María Hospital del Rosell is maintained once the crisis generated by the Covid-19 ends.“The provision of spaces and services in Rosell has prevented our health system, that is, that of Area II Health, from collapsing and that it was necessary to resort to field hospitals as has happened elsewhere.

There has been very good coordination and planning by the Health Department, but this crisis has corroborated something that we already knew, that Cartagena needs its two hospitals.

That is why I have asked the president that once the crisis ends, both continue, "explained Castejón.The mayor recalled that all experts point out that in the coming months there may be a rebound in the number of patients with coronavirus and “we need to be prepared.

That is why it is essential that Rosell has all its facilities and services working.

The management of Area II of Health and the Ministry of Health have done a very good management, providing information and in permanent contact with the City Council.

It was time to work together, without looking at colors or skills, and we have done so and we must continue to do so.

”On the other hand, the mayor has expressed concern about the way in which the return to normality will be carried out once the confinement ends.

"In Cartagena we have been very restrictive from the first moment because we understand that health is above everything else.

No one can say that we have been alarmists because, as President López Miras has pointed out, the majority of cases have been imported and we do not want this situation to be repeated.

That is why we ask that the return to normality be carried out in a staggered manner and taking extreme precautions ”, he indicated. Finally, Ana Belén Castejón has expressed, in addition to other issues, her confidence that the regional government will maintain the investment planned in the Plan of Neighborhoods and Provincial Councils, since Cartagena continues to need these works to be carried out, both to improve these areas to contribute to the recovery of the local economy with public works.
