The Civil Guard arrests a woman for the alleged theft of nearly 14,000 euros from an elderly neighbor of Los Belones-Cartagena (17/04/2020)

| The arrested woman is allegedly responsible for the continued crime of fraud | The victim lost her credit card in a commercial establishment that she frequented and, allegedly, the owner of the store used it without her consent Different reimbursements appeared in the victim's bank account at a municipal bank branch and other payments for online purchases The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the 'Greater Security Plan', aimed at the prevention and eradication of crimes committed against the elderly, has carried out the 'Creveta' operation, an investigation that has resulted in the arrest of a woman as the alleged perpetrator of a continued fraud.

The victim, 82, had about 14,000 euros taken from his bank account in various withdrawals and online financial operations. The investigation began when a 82-year-old neighbor from Los Belones-Cartagena, a Spanish national, denounced to the Civil Guard a series of charges in her bank account, made without her consent. From that moment, the civil guards gathered the necessary information that allowed them to know the dates on which the reimbursements had taken place, as well as the bank office in which they had been made, a branch located in the same town, for which they began a first line of investigation to find out who could have had access to the bank documents that would have allowed them to make the statements. These inquiries paid off when they found out that, in addition to the refunds, there were other series of financial movements, unknown to the complainant, of online payments for the purchase of different products, including well-known travel contracting operators. As the investigation progressed, the victim appeared again before the Civil Guard to report that someone continued to tamper with his bank account and that another thousand euros had been taken from him. Civil guards found out that these last operations had been to acquire several tenths of lottery, plane tickets and even the reservation of accommodation in Finnish Lapland. Gathered all the necessary information, the researchers analyzed the different financial movements and identified a woman, a neighbor of Los Belones-Cartagena, who appeared in the images of the video surveillance cameras of the bank branch where the reimbursements were made on the same dates in the extracts were produced, reaching up to three operations in the same day. The Civil Guard found out that it was the owner of a commercial establishment with whom, apparently, the victim had an incident for which they exchanged their cards in an apparently fortuitous way.

It was as a result of this exchange that movements began to take place in the accounts of the victim, which lasted for several months since the victim did not withdraw her credit card. To determine the possible illegitimate use of the aforementioned bank ID, the researchers analyzed each of the charges, including around 6,500 euros paid to the aforementioned business in less than four months, for purchases or fictitious services that the victim never reached.

receive, existing, in addition, other denied operations that, had prospered, would have added another 3,000 euros. The investigation was taking shape when the agents detected how in the public profile of a well-known social network, the main suspect had published a series of recent photographs showing her in the city of Rovaniemi, known as Finnish Lapland, which coincided with one of the charges made. After obtaining the necessary indications, the Civil Guard has located and arrested a woman, 55 years old and a Spanish national, as the alleged perpetrator of a continued fraud.

It is estimated that the total value of the swindled is around 14,000 euros. The 'Creveta' operation has culminated with the clarification of the crimes investigated and with the alleged author's disposition of the Investigating Court of Cartagena.
