An 88-year-old man has been found dead in a fire declared this afternoon in a home in the Barrio de Isaac Peral in Cartagena.
At around 5:23 p.m., the 1-1-2 Murcia Region Emergency Coordination Center received calls from neighbors reporting that they saw a lot of black smoke coming out of a flat in a three-story building on Calle Jaime I El Conquistador .
Local Police and National Police patrols and firefighters from the Fire Extinguishing, Rescue and Civil Protection Service of the City of Cartagena traveled to the place.
The fire, which had apparently originated in the kitchen, was quickly put down by firefighters, who found the body of the victim, who lived alone, with burns on the kitchen floor.
A Mobile Emergency Unit of the Emergency Management and Health Emergencies 061 that traveled to the place, could only certify his death.
