The Social Emergency Operation has attended to a total of 600 families since its launch last Thursday, March 26, with the distribution of food packages and hygiene products that have been distributed throughout the municipality of Cartagena.

As reported by the deputy mayor and councilor of the Social Welfare Area, Noelia Arroyo, "400 new families have joined the Operative that distributed food and hygiene products on the first day of its commissioning to 200 families who saw their basic needs covered" In total, 2,400 people from all over the municipal area have been treated, of which 30 are children under 2 years of age, and the smallest incidents have occurred in the western area.

The distribution has worked in an agile way every day of the week, thanks to Civil Protection and municipal volunteers who have attended families who require special attention, and the intensification of this work on Thursdays and Fridays with the incorporation of military personnel from the Tercio de Levante, who together with the other municipal volunteers, make the bulk of deliveries to Cartagena families in the morning.

In the afternoon of Thursday, April 2, the distribution will continue at 4:30 p.m. next to the church of Barrio Peral, and at the same time on the Cartagena Athletics Track.

Noelia Arroyo highlighted "the coordination of the City Council, Cartagena and military companies to reach all corners of Cartagena and ensure that no family does not have their basic needs covered.

This Emergency Operation is everyone's success, in difficult moments is when Cartagena shows its most caring side â€and was grateful for the donations that Cartagena companies have made this week, such as Ricardo Fuentes e Hijos, Cartagena Business, Consum Polígono Santa Ana and an anonymous donor.

The City Council remembers that the Unique Social Telephone 968 021 123 has been enabled to attend social emergencies.

All applications received are assessed by a team of professionals who decide what type of help or assistance the applicant needs.
