The City Council recommends that people from Cartagena take extreme security and avoid crowds in supermarkets (14/03/2020)

Given the successive images of collapsed supermarkets and queues of people to access them, the Cartagena City Council asks Cartagena residents to take extreme prevention measures, avoiding crowds inside supermarkets and maintaining the safety distance of one meter between persons.

The supply of basic necessities, such as food and medicines, is guaranteed in all the municipalities of the Region, so the Consistory invites residents and tourists displaced to Cartagena to avoid standing in line to access the establishments or to pay inside, and urge them to follow the experts' recommendations.

In an order issued by the regional government yesterday, the establishment of entertainment venues (cinemas, discos, restaurants, bars ...) is established, but the opening of those that supply basic necessities is maintained: pharmacies, supermarkets, gas stations, tobacconists and kiosks.

Therefore, the supply of food and food is guaranteed in the municipality of Cartagena.

The Local Police and Fire services will also be maintained.

"The security of the people of Cartagena and the supply of basic necessities are guaranteed," said the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, who has reiterated a message of responsibility and tranquility.

"We must stay home as much as possible and when we need to buy food or medicine, do it calmly: if we are responsible, we will be able to reduce the expansion of the coronavirus very soon," he stressed.
