MC Cartagena will request explanations from CARM for the withdrawal of the school bus that takes students from the Latin American neighborhood to El Bohío (13/03/2020)

A few days ago, the councilor of the Municipal Group MC Cartagena, María José Soler, and the members from Cartagena in the Los Dolores Neighborhood Board, held a working meeting with members of the AMPA of the El Bohío institute, who reported on the damage that the 1st ESO students from the Hispano-America neighborhood, since the Ministry of Education, through its inspection department, has decided to withdraw the regionally owned bus that transported these young people to the educational center.

For this, they have based on the fact that this neighborhood is not far from a radius greater than three kilometers from the institute.

The circumstance has aroused the suspicion of parents as it can be a comparative grievance with other neighborhoods and towns in the city of Murcia, where a certain laxity with this rule is applied.

Thus, María José Soler has announced that "we will request through the CARM transparency portal that we detail the route of each one of these buses and the justification of passage and the radius they cover to ensure that the rigidity with which they operate in Cartagena it is identical to that practiced in the rest of the municipalities of the Region. "

"The options offered to parents is absolutely outrageous. On the one hand, taking one of two regular buses that would force the kids to be on the road an hour before the start of classes. The other possibility, the transfer to another center much further away, with the consequent damage to time and operations, "explained the Cartagena councilor.

"We want to confirm that the regulations are being applied in all the municipalities in an identical way. Otherwise it would be deduced that what they are trying to do in Cartagena is to achieve economic savings at the expense of our young people. And it would be a discrimination that we demand be rectified immediately", María José Soler reasoned.

In another order of things, the mayor of MC Cartagena has reported other issues that focus the needs of the El Bohío educational center, such as the removal of existing asbestos or the failure in some classes of the minimum space required between student and desk of 1.5 meters to guarantee the minimum conditions of comfort and security in the provision of this constitutional right.
