José López confirms to SABIC's company committee the backing of MC Cartagena to his claims (11/03/2020)

Yesterday, the Municipal Group MC Cartagena, represented by its spokesperson and its deputy spokesperson;

José López and Jesús Giménez, in addition to the Cartagena councilors, Isabel García and María José Soler, held an informational meeting with members of the Sabic Company Committee.

The appointment took place at the headquarters of the Municipal Group in the City Council.

During the same, the union representatives, before the announcement by the company of the closure of one of the plants at its headquarters in La Aljorra and the dismissal of 92 workers, defended the viability of the objective of 'Dismissal 0', advocating time for a period of renegotiation, an issue in which they found the full support of the Cartagenerist formation.

For this, they defend the need to combine formulas such as early retirement, incentive casualties and relocations in other industrial centers such as Escombreras or Corvera.

In the same way, they highlighted the incongruity of the company since it is a plant with a remarkable productive versatility, as well as that, at present, personnel needs that could be encrypted in the last year in an infradotation of thirty are being covered with overtime workers.

In line with this situation, the Cartagena spokesman, José López, has spoken.

"As they explained to us, the situation seemed to come. The company has decided to empty the plant to sell it without charges, like the landlord who expels the tenants to give a ball. That is what it is; to speculate on the future of these workers" .

From this starting point, López has begun his argument, highlighting, then, "the complacency of the administrations, which with the small mouth have complained but have put a red carpet".

In this sense, MC recalled that the plant received significant public support for its implementation, "so this maneuver is a scam to the Cartagena."

The company's debt with its environment

Subsequently, José López has added that SABIC, like other multinationals in the Escombreras Valley, "pollutes our environment to obtain important benefits, so they have a much larger debt with us than paying salaries."

Going deeper into the responsibility of administrations, he added that "when decisions like this are accepted from politics, catastrophes like Portmán Bay and personal dramas like ZINCSA happen. At least in MC we don't know how to look the other way."

Company Requirement

More specifically, the Cartagena manager has announced that "we require the company to assume in its plants all employees who are not able to seduce to pre-retire or seek another job with an important economic offer."

"They have benefits for this, but also only with the extra hours that force their workers to be able to relocate dozens of them."

Lopez has concluded by stating that "in that line of labor demand and justice we will continue working with employees and we will be a political and social speaker for them and against those who squat us and then leave us, including smiling politicians and politicians."
