The 125th Anniversary of the sinking of the Regent Queen is celebrated (11/03/2020)

The Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country of Cartagena has organized a conference on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the sinking of the Regent Queen, which will be held on March 25 in the Assembly Hall of the entity at 7:00 p.m.

The City Council of Cartagena collaborates.

The conference is given by the chief engineer of the Merchant Marine and librarian of the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country, Antonio González Velázquez.

The act will be conducted by the captain of the Spanish Navy, José Jorge Madrid.

The day is carried out in collaboration with the City Council of Cartagena, the Port Authority of Cartagena and the Royal Economic Societies of Friends of the Country.

QUEEN REGENT

The Regent Queen was a protected cruise ship built for the Spanish Navy at the James and George Thompson shipyards in Clydebank (Scotland).

A pioneer ship in many ways, but as a whole it did not work well and ended up wrecking during a storm.

It is considered the first Spanish cruise of modern invoice that the Restoration Spain had.

There were 46 deceased Cartagena and a total of 412 deceased.
