The Fire Department of the City of Cartagena closed the year 2019 with almost one thousand seven hundred interventions, mostly in the matter of rescue of people, as in cases of rescue of hikers, and also in sanitation of buildings, as explained by the Head of the Extinction Service of Fire and Rescue, Francisco Gómez Ávalos.
In addition, he pointed out that "there is a small downward trend in forest fires in Cartagena."
For his part, the councilor of the area of ​​Public Safety, Public Road and Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba, said that from the municipal government they are happy with the operation of the fire department, and stressed that the government is working to remove the bases of new fire places, specifically 15 new places, to have more troops in 2021.
With regard to the opening of Calle Cuatro Santos and Calle del Aire, the mayor explained that this afternoon there will be a review by the corresponding architect to proceed to its opening this Friday.
The Cartagena Fire Department, integrated into the Firefighting, Rescue and Civil Protection Service of the City of Cartagena, celebrated its patron saint San Juan de Dios on Friday, March 6, with the traditional Mass in the Basilica of Charity and later a Spanish wine of fraternization in an establishment of Molinos Marfagones.
The religious office was attended by the councilor of the Area of ​​Finance, New Technologies and interior, Esperanza Nieto, the councilor delegated of Heritage and Contracting, María Amoraga, members of the municipal corporation, María del Pilar García, José López and Jesús Giménez, disputed regional , the police commissioner, and other authorities.
