The City Council begins the installation of beach infrastructure for Holy Week (06/03/2020)

The municipal brigades of the City of Cartagena have begun the installation of the beach infrastructure in the Cartagena coast to have everything ready for Easter, while continuing to work on the rest of the beaches to continue with the work of conditioning the sand and seaweed cleaning that is being done after the storm Gloria.

As reported by the deputy mayor and head of the Municipal Commission of the Mar Menor, Noelia Arroyo, “the work has begun on the beaches of Mar de Cristal, Villas Caravaning and Cala del Pino with the assembly of walkways, pergolas, lavapies and wastebaskets, after having finished the actions in the sand and that will continue in the rest of the beaches of the municipality during the next weeks ”.

Arroyo has insisted that "from the City Council in coordination with Costas, work is being done to recover the state of the beaches after the continuous storms that have hit our coast in recent months."

It continues to act in the maintenance and conditioning of the sand in Los Nietos, Los Urrutias, Islas Menores and Cavanna Beach, and in the cleaning of algae on the beaches of Playa Honda and Playa Paraso where winds have returned to return Algae on the shore.

The vice mayor explained that "these tasks are being combined with maintenance work on the promenades, gardens and street furniture through municipal operators."

In addition, he pointed out that “this Friday, the urban maintenance work that the students of the ISOL association for psychosocial rehabilitation have completed on the promenade wall of Punta Brava and Los Urrutias ends and next week they will move to Playa Honda to continue with the arrangement and painted of the wall of the promenade, lampposts, planters, tree beds and planters ”.

"Our goal is that the beaches are in the best conditions for the beginning of Holy Week and facing the summer months" said Arroyo who recalled that "the City Council can only act the dry part but we continue working in a coordinated way to require the rest of administrations to adopt urgent measures for actions within the sea ”.
