The program 'Freedom of women is unstoppable' frames the commemoration of 8M, International Women's Day (03/03/2020)

On the occasion of 8M, International Women's Day, the Department of Equality of the City of Cartagena has organized various activities such as the music festival + Q Musas Fest, a poetry contest, a photographic exhibition, feminist dialogue between peoples, the Theater play inspired by Marilyn and a performance and defense workshop against a possible sexual assault, among others, which are complemented by the demonstration convened on March 8, by Feminist Associations and other Entities of Cartagena.

The freedom of women is unstoppable is the motto under which this year the City Council presents its program of activities, referring to the struggle that continues to expand to claim the rights of women.

The Councilor for Equality, David Martínez, said that "the City Council of Cartagena joins the Institutional Declaration of the FEMP (Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces), and remains committed to developing equality policies of a transversal nature and working on the new Plan Equality that will come to light in this year 2020. In addition, he wanted to highlight "the importance of the State Pact against gender violence that drives work and commitment acting in accordance with its guidelines and proposals."

The coordinator of the Department of Equality, María José Mercader, has expressed her gratitude to all the Councils of the City Council that "have contributed to the program and also to people who both individually and with an initiative have added and enriched these activities of the 8M ".

MANIFESTATION OF 8M

On Sunday March 8 the Manifestation is convened on the occasion of International Women's Day, which will start at 12:00 hours from the Plaza de España and will head to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where a manifesto will be read.

It is organized by Feminist Associations and other Entities of Cartagena, which encourage all citizens to participate.

ACTIVITY PROGRAM

The program organized by the Department of Equality starts this Wednesday, March 4, adding to a talk organized by Cartagena Piensa, program of the Department of Culture and framed in the Conference 'An education for the 21st century.

Pilar Mayo's presentation will deal with the Skolae program, whose objective is to provide all students with the possibility of learning to live in equality.

On Thursday 5, the photographic exhibition Women of Barrio will be inaugurated, made by the photographer Pablo Sánchez, where he captures the lives of the women of San Antón in the images.

The feminist Dialogue between Peoples day will take place on Friday 6, at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and will give voice to racialized women who will show their views.

It is an initiative that arises through the unity of ethnic and sexual diversity of the Department of Equality.

That same day the performance Ella will take place, a play inspired by Marilyn in which the stereotype of the silly blonde woman is dismantled.

The XXIX Poetry Contest can be enjoyed on Saturday 7 in the Social Local of the Mediterranean Urbanization at 20:30 hours, and later, at 21:30 the music festival + Q Musas Fest will begin, with the performance of three women Artists, Marina Ojos de Brujo, Alba Díaz La Negra and Carrie Palmer DJ, at the Faculty of Business Sciences.

The money raised from this concert will go to the Ana Bella Foundation, which works with women who suffer gender violence.

At the X International Festival of Poetry and Art, Scream of Women, one of the star activities of the program, a group of female poets will recite poems of their authorship and will be accompanied by the Nati Guerrero dance show.

It will take place on Thursday, March 12.

On the 13th, Three singer-songwriters, three voices, three concerts in one, will be an event to give visibility to women in music organized by the Cartagena singer Lydia Martín, in which her voice joins Amareia and Maruia.

The Popular University contributes with two activities, the film forum A brilliant reason and a round table They did it.

The Empowerment School of the Department of Equality will also offer a workshop on how to act and defend against possible sexual assault.
