The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, together with the mayors of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno and San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez;
and the deputy mayor of the City of Murcia, Paqui Pérez, participated on Monday, March 2 in a round table on the occasion of International Women's Day, chaired by the delegate of EFE in the Region of Murcia, Celia Cantero, in the Assembly Regional.
The three mayors told their experiences as first mayor of their municipalities, and presented their point of view on the reality derived from the fact that 33.3% of the maximum representatives of the municipalities of the Region of Murcia are women.
All agreed that the management of municipalities is based on two basic qualities to govern such as fitness and attitude, and not depending on whether the mayor is male or female.
On the other hand, with the interventions a woman's profile was offered as mayor, defined as being a university student, about 44 years old, capable and self-confident, who has sacrificed her personal life to hold the maximum representation of her municipality, even knowing There will be stages that you will not recover.
In addition, one of the central issues at the round table was the reconciliation of personal and professional life, which has emerged as the great challenge of the 21st century, both for policies and for any working woman.
Participants said that despite recognizing that they have lost stages of their children's lives, being a mayor is an enriching experience.
The act was attended by the deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, and the mayor of the government team, David Martínez and Alejandra Gutierréz, and the councilor of the corporation, Gonzalo Abad.
