Lina Tur and Daniel Espasa open the Bach Cartagena concert cycle (29/02/2020)

The Bach Cartagena program celebrates its fifth edition this year with a total of nine days with activities throughout the city, from Wednesday 11 to Sunday 22 March.

The program, organized by the Early Music Project platform and the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena, to celebrate the European Day of Ancient Music, has the collaboration of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the University of Murcia, the ISEN, the Ministry of Education and Culture through the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts, the School of Music of Catalonia, and the company ALSA.

The presentation was attended by the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, the special delegate of Culture, Carlos Piñana, the conductor of the Orchestra of the University of Murcia and also director of the Bach Cartagena, Jorge Losana, and Service Coordinator of Culture of the University of Murcia, Francisco Caballero.

The mayor, David Martínez, said that "the European Day of Ancient Music is celebrated around March 21, the date on which according to the Julian calendar, Bach was born. The spaces in which this program is developed are institutional, cultural, libraries, public schools, religious temples, or outdoor spaces.

All the activities of the Bach Cartagena program are free and open to all citizens, constituting a program of dissemination of ancient and classical music increasingly recognized and that has been finding a growing public participation for its proposals during these years.

For his part, the Councilor special delegate of Culture, Carlos Piñana, has assured that this program "opens a spring that will be full of other public proposals for culture for all: World Theater Day, International Dance Day, Festival Much More May of Emerging Art, Museum Night, Cartagena Folk Festival, or new initiatives that will soon see the light, such as what will be called "Classics in Museums", which we will soon present, among others ".
