The Region of Cartagena continues to suffer from the lack of commitment by regional institutions in active employment policies in the industrial sector.
The PSOE of Cartagena considers the dismissal of 95 workers of the Saudi multinational Sabic very worrying.
Sabic will close the fourth plant that it built 10 years ago for the manufacture of ultra-resistant and thermoplastic automotive plastics although it builds a new plant in Asia and modernizes another one in the United States equal to the one it now intends to close in La Aljorra.
These facts highlight the lack of foresight of the regional executive in these situations.
The socialist party in Cartagena asks the Regional government and the City Council for greater involvement in this process, leaving aside empty promises that do not help workers who can lose their jobs, and work to get the relocation of these workers in the other three plants that continue at full capacity and with workload.
We demand that the millionaire subsidies and public aid that this company has received, many of them with a commitment to maintain jobs, be reviewed, in case it is necessary to claim the return of them due to this sudden and surprising business decision.
Cartagena needs an economic boost given its current stagnation since there is a serious deficit of new industrial investments.
A plan is needed to encourage business investment.
Put the necessary means to attract new investments, generate new jobs and respond to the precarious work existing.
We want to show our support for workers and our commitment to continue fighting to encourage and work on policies that can change this situation that always cause suffering and discomfort in those affected and in their closest environments.
That is why we make ourselves available to those affected, of this questionable business decision, for everything we can help them with.
