The old sewage treatment plant in Barrio Peral is history (19/02/2020)

The City Council of Cartagena has begun the demolition work of the old sewage treatment plant in Barrio Peral, which is next to Víctor Beltrí Avenue and Hispania School.

The deputy mayor Manuel Padín went to the place yesterday Monday to Monday to supervise the tasks first hand, because the facilities had become a danger to citizens.

And, the deterioration of the building had reached a point where pedestrians, especially children, were in danger of the possible fall of the roof of the old treatment plant, even after the last storms.

The work has not yet been completed, since there is still the removal of the debris through the company in charge of demolition, although it will end in a few dates as indicated by the deputy mayor himself to the president of the association of residents of Barrio Peral, Eduardo Martínez, who has also been present during the visit.

“This esplanade will get rid of this dangerous building and can be used by neighbors to walk, alone or with their pets, without any danger,†explained Manuel Padín.
