MC notes security and unhealth problems in the environment of the CEIP ´Mare Nostrum´ aggravated by the inaction of the local government (17/02/2020)

Last Friday, members of the municipal group MC Cartagena moved to the vicinity of the CEIP 'Mare Nostrum', located on the esplanade of the Cénit Shopping Center, at the request of the AMPA of the educational center, which wanted to show the safety and health problems they suffer in the area, extended in time despite complaints that have been submitted in writing to the municipal government from the school.

Thus, the councilors of MC, Isabel García, Enrique Pérez Abellán and Arantxa Pérez, were able to check on the spot and at the time of the departure of the students from the center, how several private cars accessed the door of the school despite having two steering discs prohibited from being prevented, this practice being a constant due to the null presence of police officers at the time of entry and exit of the school.

In the opinion of the mayor of Cartagena Arantxa Pérez, "this situation shows a dysfunction by the Government of Ana Belén Castejón, who is unable to tackle a situation of manifest insecurity since, as we have been able to prove, the cars maneuver there with total impunity seriously jeopardizing the integrity of students and their families, although it is forbidden to do so. "

Next, he added that "this permissibility is the result of the inaction of the mayor and her misgovernment, which does not send agents of the Local Police there, that does not sanction this type of behavior and that disregards the AMPA of Mare Nostrum, although from there they have sent several writings in the same direction in order to solve this situation. "

It should be noted that members of the CEPA Mare Nostrum AMPA said they knew a case that happened in recent dates where an outrage in extremis was avoided, this being the reason for requesting a police presence again at the time of entry and exit of the school.

Unhealthy problems

In the same way, center staff reported to the mayor of MC unhealthy problems in the esplanade attached to the school.

Thus, during the visit they taught the councilors the garbage containers placed next to the school gate, mattresses thrown near them where the students pass and a series of broken glass that jeopardize the integrity of the schoolchildren.

Therefore, Pérez has concluded that "we will take to the next plenary an initiative for the Castejón Executive to meet the demands of this center, which are fair, repeated and in writing; guarantee the safety of schoolchildren with a police presence preventing access to vehicles to the area and move trash bins to avoid unhealthy problems among schoolchildren. "
