The Empowerment School presents innovative fertility, pregnancy and bereavement courses (03/02/2020)

The Empowerment School for Women is an initiative developed by the Department of Equality, which began in September 2016, which aims to promote the empowerment of women.

The Councilor for Equality, David Martínez, has attended this Monday, February 3, the presentation of the school's activities, and stressed that through these courses they promote a meeting, exchange and personal and social development space, where they accompany women in their transformation process, both personally and socially.

Thus they promote activities for awareness and learning of new skills that add value to their lives, to facilitate their adaptation and the path to transformation they want in their own way.

The workshops begin on Wednesday, February 5 and run until June 2.

They offer:

-Workshops and varied courses for the empowerment of women.

-Tools and resources to promote self-knowledge and development of skills and competencies.

-Encounter spaces where to connect with their own talents and focus on psychosocial realization.

-Place of free expression of emotions and feelings.

This new campaign was carried out by the graphic designer, Laura Marina, and it reflects the union of women.

The twinning between women, promoting alliance, respect and recognition: sorority.

The Councilor for Equality, David Martínez, said that this year they are carrying out a dissemination campaign that includes as a novelty, in addition to muppys and posters, a mail box in different parts of the city to promote school among women of all ages.

The councilor also highlighted the enhancement of the Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, by putting in the city an Empowerment School for women.

For its part, the coordinator of the Department of Equality, María José Mercader, has announced the programming of courses and workshops for this year.

Mercader explained that they have maintained some successful activities of previous years, such as guided city tours or workshops, emotions and ceramics, and highlighted how new that fertility will work on this occasion, with workshops such as “Factors that block fertility â€, And the issue of pregnancy, with“ Informed pregnancy, real decisions â€, and pilates for pregnant women, which will be developed in a health center within the SALEM project, will also address the issue of grieving, to teach how to deal with the loss Of a loved one.

And financial intelligence, with the workshop: "Learn to manage your money."

In addition, they will start working with Parks and Gardens in a new project: “Living Gardensâ€, in which they will work within their spaces, to later move the plants to different parts of the city.

"We want to bring the feminine spirit to the city," said the coordinator.

They continue with some proposals such as the Emotional Gymnasium, which consists of working the different feelings with a psychologist to promote the inner enrichment of women.

This workshop begins on February 5 with two groups: one of adult women and one of adolescent women aged 13 to 17, who works very successfully with congratulations from mothers and fathers for this work.

The course for teenagers was created at the request of the mothers who received this workshop.

Another activity they have maintained is the performance and defense against a possible sexual assault, for this in February they work with adolescents from 14 to 17 years.

In March they work with adult women and in May they carry out an intervention with professionals, with women whose profession forces them to be in the street.

The profile of women who sign up for school is getting younger, with profiles of 30-40 years and 20-30 years.

All courses are free with prior registration.
