The presentation of the photobook 'The Other Shore', which shows the reality of refugees in the Ritsona and Moria camps in Greece, will be next Monday, February 3, at 8:00 p.m., at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center , as one of the activities of the VI Solidarity Conference "Here we just want to be human", framed in the Cartagena Piensa program, organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena.
With photographs by Paloma Comuñas, edition of Elena Ortiz and Francesca Nena Danesi, and the collaboration of the Erasmus + Refugium Project coordinated by the University of Murcia, we seek to raise awareness of the situation of refugees in Europe and raise funds for work on the ground which the organization will carry out in the Greek refugee camps.
Through this photographic compilation it is also intended to reflect on the growing tendency on the part of different European countries to create control, detention and confinement areas destined to detain those people who are forced to migrate in search of protection or better conditions of lifetime.
The work suggests that, in addition to requiring a change in the migration policies adopted by the states and the European Union, an urgent transformation in the imaginary of the citizenship regarding migration is required to avoid the consolidation of an indifferent, excluding and walled.
Participating in the presentation of the book, Joaquín Sánchez "El Cura" and Teresa Fuentes of the Friends of Ritsona Association.
Marta Latorre, professor of the Department of Sociology of the University of Murcia, presents the event.
The publication has been carried out within the framework of the activities carried out by the Friends of Ritsona Association in refugee camps.
