The Network of Municipal Libraries presents educational workshops on climate change and urban art among its activities (23/01/2020)

The programming of the Network of Municipal Libraries of Cartagena for the first quarter of 2020, from January to March, starts next Friday, January 24 with a new program of children's, youth and adult activities.

The special delegate of Culture, Carlos Piñana, has attended the presentation of the workshops on Thursday 23, and highlighted in relation to the activities agreed with schools, a specific entertainment program, aimed at children aged 3 to 13 years.

Interested schools or institutes can request it through the website of the Cartagena municipal library.

This is a highly demanded program, since since September 3, 461 applications from schools have been received to participate in this exclusive program of the municipality's network of libraries.

For its part, the head of the network of municipal libraries in Cartagena, Carmen Rodal, said that the reason why they have received so many requests from schools, is because within the program of activities for children there is a program designed for each age.

Of the non-concerted activities, the councilor pointed “a classic for Cartagena,†he tells stories, which fill the municipal libraries of families every Friday of the school year.

After the rest of the Christmas holidays, they return with craft workshops, taught by “Arteandoâ€, workshops to celebrate carnival and spring, in addition to art workshops.

Carlos Piñana highlighted two major developments for this period, on the one hand education for adaptation to climate change, with two workshops on agroecology and sustainability to raise awareness among children about the importance of this topic.

They are developed in collaboration with the program of the Department of Culture, Cartagena Piensa, and the Department of Sustainable City and European Projects.

The other great novelty is aimed at young audiences and consists of urban art workshops, taught by the Cartagena artist, Art Mateo, with the collaboration of the Department of Youth, aimed at young people from 14 years, which will be held in the Josefina Soria library of the Ramón Alonso Luzzy cultural center with one session, and in the Rafael Rubio library in Los Dolores with three sessions.

These workshops are free and require prior registration.

In what refers to the adult public, Carlos Piñana, has pointed out the reading and literary gathering clubs, the most successful activity and support among users that has experienced great growth in recent years.

With 33 adult, youth and children's clubs, highlighting the last one that has been formed in collaboration with ONCE.

“In short, what we want with libraries is to be filled with magic, stories and music,†explained Piñana.

The director of the ONCE, Miguel Paraíso, explained that they want to have a reading club in their center that displays a large participation and that the goal is "to make the culture more universal, more inclusive, than people with disabilities have better access to everything that is done around culture. â€

MEETINGS WITH AUTHORS

The activity most demanded by schools is the meetings with authors recognized nationally and internationally, which this year will take place in the months of February and March.

This year's authors are:

For the little ones they will have the visit of the Cádiz writer, Carmen Gil Martínez, author of the book "La tantrum de Lara", and "Album of bugs" of the writer, Antonio Rubio.

And the visit of the illustrator, Ximena Meyer, with her book "Ink".

While the children of second grade will have the visit of the writer, Pepe Serrano, with his book "The amazing journey of Mr. Bianchi's voice".

Third-grade children will receive Pablo Aranda, author of "The Weirdest School in the World", and fourth-year students will have Álvaro Nuñez, one of the authors of the nationally successful collection, "The Owl Team" .
