Seven people attended in the special device for the Cold Wave in Cartagena (20/01/2020)

The City Council of Cartagena, through the Department of Social Services, attended Sunday 7 people inside the special device of Ola de Frio that was launched before the forecast of strong winds, rains and temperature drops planned until tomorrow Tuesday, January 21, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency.

The vice mayor and councilor of the Area of ​​Social Welfare Noelia Arroyo, said that “the cold monitoring and assistance device has been operating since December, in permanent coordination between the Department of Social Services and the NGOs of the municipality to ensure the attention of people who live in the street ”.

During these cold days, Arroyo explained that “the device has intensified, especially at night to meet those who need it and want to move to the qualified facilities where accommodation is offered.

Specifically, yesterday, 7 people were treated, of which only 3, chose to move to the Hospitality of Santa Teresa ”.

The rest of the people attended refused the service.

Keep in mind that many of these people have problems of strong uprooting, addictions and diseases.

"Our goal is always to work on protocols that allow these homeless people to have the help and resources they need," said the vice mayor.

This special cold wave device will remain until tomorrow Tuesday and will be extended if the weather forecasts change.
