The municipal government agrees to a temporary overtime regime pending the new RED (04/01/2020)

The Municipal Government of Cartagena has agreed with the trade union representatives of Sime and CC.OO a temporary regime for the distribution of extraordinary services for City Council employees, which will be in effect until the approval of a new RED agreement and, in all In this case, until February 29, the date from which extraordinary services will be established by the heads of service at an extra hourly price.

CSIF and UGT have not joined the pact.

The agreement, which has been signed by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo and the deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, will cover the needs of Local Police, Firefighters and Brigades with greater control of their costs, thanks to the adequacy of the devices to the needs of the services.

Once the table of minimum services established in the RED agreement has been extinguished, the new pact includes a basic police services system set with technical criteria by its Headquarters that includes new features that give greater flexibility and efficiency to the organization of services, such as the free configuration of patrols on motorcycles and patrol cars.

The Headquarters estimates that the provisional basic services regime will mean a reduction of about 3,300 hours.

The agreement provides for an average of two extraordinary services per month for police and firefighters, with around two locations;

while in the case of the municipal Brigades a forecast of 10 hours per month is established, which will be granted prior motivation by the service chiefs.

The mayor thanked the union representatives for their willingness and sense of responsibility to achieve a stable framework for officials and greater security in service to Cartagena, while the final agreement is reached.

The cost of overtime increased in 2019 by 75%, from 4 to 7 million euros, and the municipal executive has set the goal of reaching a new agreement with the union representatives that allows adjusting services to real needs, reducing costs and avoid work overload to employees who must chain long hours.
