MC will encourage progress in decentralization and ratify the conclusions reached in the last legislature by the Bureau of the Province (02/01/2020)

The Municipal Group MC Cartagena will take an initiative to the next Municipal Plenary to request that the conclusions of the work carried out by the Bureau on the viability of the restoration of the province of Cartagena in the previous legislature be ratified.

The implementation of this Bureau was due to an initiative presented by MC in the Plenary session of October 24, 2016, which had the adhesion of the other municipal groups of the Corporation.

It was constituted on November 25, 2016, being composed of representatives of the municipal groups, the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Cartagena and Comarca (FAVCAC) and the Platform '2es +'.

Among the final conclusions of the Mesa, which had reports from universities, professional associations and other institutions of civil society, are the existence of a mistreatment of Cartagena and Region paid for an absorbent centralism, which is necessary to bet on decentralization regional to improve regional management, as well as the legal viability of the restitution of the province of Cartagena, urging to include a reference to it in the reform of the autonomous Statute.

The municipal spokesman of the Cartagenerist formation has advanced that, in addition to seeking that the Plenary ratify the conclusions reached by the Table of the Province, "we will also demand that the Regional Assembly recover the draft Statute of Autonomy that approved hastily on 1 April 2019, to continue with the presentation of the same valuing the conclusions of said table and the need to advance in the decentralization of our Community. "

Once again, López has reiterated that "Cartagena is not unique, as they insist on pointing out from the national parties, but it does suffer especially discrimination that affects other places in our geography."

Along these lines, he added that "regional asymmetry has paid the secessionism we suffer with the money of all Spaniards, but it has also consented and encouraged the marginalization of Spaniards who have had the misfortune of being framed in communities like ours, underfunded and bad, very badly managed. "

"We are the periphery of the periphery, becoming evident the systematic discrimination we suffer in the environmental disaster perpetrated in the Mar Menor and the safe recession that threatens us this 2020," said the mayor of Cartagena.

In this context, he concluded by stating that "for this reason we believe that it is time that issues such as localization, biprovinciality and even the name of the Region be dealt with seriously and without haste, something that everyone understands as accredited by the case of the Netherlands, except in the Regional Assembly ".
