The Working Conditions Agreement was suspended cautiously to adjust it to budget availability (30/12/2019)

The Governing Board has decided on Monday, December 30, to initiate the file of precautionary suspension of the measures of the Agreement on Working Conditions that should enter into force in January, after the technical reports made by the Municipal Intervention, the Legal Counsel and The Budget Office has warned that the current economic context makes its application unfeasible, as reported this morning by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, in an appearance before the media made with the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, and the first deputy mayor, Manuel Padín

The mayor has announced that the Government wants to open a dialogue table with workers' union representatives on the same day 7 to begin negotiating the best possible agreement within budget limits.

"When the agreement on the working conditions of the City Council was approved, the government and the unions were fully aware that it could be applied in its entirety and with the deadlines provided if the general and particular economic conditions of the City Council allowed it," he recalled. the mayor.

The reports studied this morning by the Government agree that the new context of economic slowdown does not allow an increase in the income of the City Council and prevents assuming the increases in remuneration and overtime that represents the entry into force of some of the measures included in the agreement.

Its direct application would imply non-compliance with the stability criteria and the spending limit established by Law and would force the City Council to prepare an Economic-Financial Plan supervised by the Ministry of Finance.

Castejón, who has thanked the work and commitment of municipal employees, has stressed that this decision is preceded by changes in economic forecasts and the emergence of new obligations for municipal coffers contracted this year, such as loans to deal with the works of the DANA and the disputes arising from the cancellation of the General Plan.

The vicalcaldesa, Noelia Arroyo, stressed that this is a decision of the Government "agreed and adopted from the rigor and responsibility" in the face of economic slowdown, political instability and the new obligations that the City Council has had to face.
