The Consistory of Cartagena asks the Regional Assembly not to penalize the UPCT with an exorbitant rent for the Alberto Colao residence (20/12/2019)

The Government team of the Cartagena City Council has sent a letter to the president of the Regional Assembly, Alberto Castillo, requesting that the rental price of the Alberto Colao student residence that the institution wants to impose on the Polytechnic University be reduced during The next two years.

The City Council considers that the amount proposed by the Board of the Assembly is disproportionate, taking into account that the Polytechnic University of Cartagena is a public institution whose budget is approved by the autonomous parliament itself.

The Government team has reminded Alberto Castillo of the importance that UPCT has for Cartagena and for the Region, since the future projection of the municipality is based on it.

They have also explained that the Polytechnic has maintained a continuous growth since its inception, although its budget has always been very tight, and has contributed decisively to the technological development of the companies in Cartagena and the Region.

In the letter, signed by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón;

the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo;

and the deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, request that the Board of the Assembly rethink its decision and listen again to the leaders of the Polytechnic.
