100 UCAM students celebrate Christmas with the elderly in the center of Cartagena (19/12/2019)

University volunteers have sung carols with residents and visited the municipal nativity scene of San Francisco Square this afternoon.

For the fourth consecutive year, a hundred volunteer students from the Campus of the San Antonio Catholic University in Cartagena have accompanied the residents of the nursing home to learn about the Christmas atmosphere of the historic center of the city.

In addition to the solidarity activity of taking a walk through the most central streets of Cartagena that takes place every month of the course, as in the last Christmas, university students have sung Christmas carols with the elderly in the streets of the city and visited the Municipal Bethlehem .

This time, the volunteers, in addition to encouraging Christmas to the elderly, have learned about the experience of a Claretian missionary who has an exhibition at the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country.

Today's voluntary action is one of the most requested by the students of the Los Dolores Campus in the framework of the agreements that UCAM has with about thirty associations that allow the collaboration during this four-month period of about 40 students from the Cartagena campus in its groups of social interest of the Region.

During this four-month period, each of the volunteers has dedicated 27 hours to help groups for children, the elderly or disabled, the sick and other social action, joining other groups of students who have been collaborating with these entities since previous years in the framework of cooperation agreements promoted by UCAM.
