The participants of the San Silvestre 2019 will run for the benefit of the Torre Nazaret Home (19/12/2019)

The end of the year is approaching and with it Christmas, a holiday that brings with it the celebration of one of the most traditional sports events, the San Silvestre de Cartagena.

Although it is celebrated throughout Spain, in Cartagena it becomes especially important as it is the oldest in the Region, reaching this 2019 its XXXVIII edition.

This sporting and consecrated event of the city is organized by the newspaper La Verdad, the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena, the Department of Sports of the Region of Murcia and is sponsored by CaixaBank and the collaboration of the Marnys company.

The details of the race have been offered this Thursday, December 19 by the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Sports, Noelia Arroyo, the General Director of Sports of the Region of Murcia, Francisco Sánchez and the director of the newspaper La Verdad, Alberto Aguirre de Cárcer.

Also, the Councilor for Sports, Diego Ortega, attended.

The vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, said that "San Silvestre, in addition to being a sporting event, is supportive, since this year the collection of the test will go to the Torre Nazaret House, of the Asilo Store Foundation of San Pedro."

It is located in the Cartagena town of Santa Ana and is composed of professionals from different areas, in order to provide comprehensive care for those affected by HIV / AIDS and people with disabilities.

The general director of Sports of the Region of Murcia, Francisco Sánchez, has affirmed that “Cartagena can boast of having the sport in a high degree and in good health thanks to examples such as Carmen Elite, coach Chisco Aledo, Salesianos school Cartagena, the Cartagena Soccer Club or the San Silvestre â€.

The test of December 31 has four routes adapted to each age group.

The director of the newspaper La Verdad, Alberto Aguirre de Cárcer, explained that “the Benjamin will travel a circuit of 400 meters, the fry and children, 800 meters, the cadets, 5200 meters as well as the participants of the absolute testâ€.

Remember that the streets that will pass through the test are the following: Town Hall Square, Calle Mayor, Puerta de Murcia, Carmen, Carlos III, Juan de la Cosa, Sr. Francisca Armendáriz, Jaime Bosch, San Diego, Duke, Gisbert, Wall of the Sea , General Ordonez, Canyon, Air, Jara, Campos, San Francisco, Knight, Charity, Serreta, Park, Santa Florentina, Puerta de Murcia, Mayor and finish in the Town Hall Square.

All the tests will have exit and finish in the Town Hall Square, next to the Heroes de Cavite Square.

The race will start after 17 hours.

Registration will remain open until December 26.

The price is two euros for youngsters, three for fry and children, four for cadets and youth and eight for the other categories.
