The Local Government Board approves an investment of 415,000 euros for Social Services programs (19/12/2019)

The local government has approved today, Thursday, December 19, an investment of 415,000 euros, which will be used to finance programs in the area of ​​Social Services.

Specifically, it is a subsidy to guarantee the homogeneous provision of education in students at risk of social exclusion in the Infant, Primary and Secondary schools, with an amount of 65,000 euros;

the continuity of the social fund with which the City Council ensures the basic supply of water to families and people in precarious situations.

Likewise, the second Cartagena Inclusiva Municipal Disability Plan 2020-2024 has been given the green light.

Through this plan, the Department of Social Services intends to concentrate all efforts to achieve more inclusive environments, which will be addressed from different areas;

that of accessibility, adapting buildings, transportation and facilities;

that of employment, mainly focused on labor insertion;

leisure, culture and sports, to prevent isolation and enhance social skills and creativity;

from social services, as well as from awareness, visibility and information.

EDUCATION

In the same way, the subsidy has been approved by direct concession to the project of Participatory Budgets in the educational centers of the municipality, with a total amount of 110,000 euros.

Each of the 7 participating schools (Jos Mara Lapuerta, Santa Florentina, San Gins de la Jara, San Fulgencio, Miguel de Cervantes, Vicente Medina and Virgen del Carmen) and the 4 institutes (San Isidoro, Galileo, Mediterranean and El Boho) They have a budget of 10,000.

Students are responsible for proposing and selecting the projects that they consider most appropriate and necessary for their respective centers.

Precisely for that reason, the mayor, Ana Beln Castejn, highlighted the importance of “promoting the participation of the youngest in the design of the investments that the City Council carries out in its educational centers.

It is essential that students verify that the projects they prepare and vote materialize.

In addition, we must continue betting because all the students of the municipality can study in equal opportunities, regardless of their income and their circumstances ”.

The acquisition of two plots has also been approved, one of 234 and another of 251.70 square meters to expand the access roads to the land that will house the new public school of La Aljorra.

They have paid about 6,300 euros for them.

INFRASTRUCTURES

In this sense, the renewal of the agreement with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena on environmental sustainability has also been approved, framed in the chair of infrastructure that both institutions have and that has a budget of 100,000 euros.

For this year, the subjects they have focused on are the energy improvement of public services and the reduction of polluting emissions.

“For this Government, the fight against climate change and the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda is a priority.

We cannot do it alone, but we must set an example for citizens and minimize emissions and the impact we have on our environment, ”the mayor concluded.
