Quieter and with less emissions of pollutant gases, this is the new machinery of the cleaning service of Cartagena (18/12/2019)

The environmental prioritization and the reduction of noise emissions have been the main axes to follow in the acquisition of the new machinery of the cleaning service concession company in Cartagena, Lhicarsa, in which nearly two million euros have been invested .

This was communicated by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, in the presentation of the new municipal fleet that took place this Wednesday, December 18, in the Town Hall Square, where she has made a visit to the machinery accompanied by the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, along with the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, the councilor of Vía Pública, Juan Pedro Torralba, and the mayor of Infrastructure, María Casajús.

This new machinery will be a great improvement in the street cleaning and waste collection service in which “the emission of polluting gases with latest generation fossil fuel machinery and with electric propulsion machinery has been limited as much as possibleâ€, has Castejón informed, "the purchase of this new material will be charged to the investment plan planned for the 2020-2030 decade."

New sweepers, 15 blowers, 15 electric tricycles with electrical equipment, 500 litter bins, 200 2,400-liter side-load containers for organic waste, 70 paper and cardboard containers, and 50 yellow containers for containers are incorporated into the municipal fleet , along with two shovels and three trucks for the waste treatment plant, in addition to new trucks and tractors.

Until now, Lhicarsa workers were traveling on foot in their paths with blowers, using these new electric tricycles with low noise emission.

The mayor also recalled the recent approval of the noise ordinance along with the finalization of the details of the Sustainable Mobility Plan of the Municipality, including these municipal services within this global strategy to achieve the objectives of the 2030 Agenda.

These two million euros are framed in the commitment acquired by the concessionaire to invest a total of 12 million euros over the next 2020.
