"In the face of local government paralysis, MC provides a comprehensive action plan to boost mobility in Cartagena" (14/12/2019)

This morning, the deputy spokesman of the municipal group MC Cartagena, Jesús Giménez, has written down the proposals that his training has presented for discussion and application in the actions that arise from the Mobility Board.

It should be remembered that this work forum was constituted in June 2017 during the Mayor's Office of José López by the Sustainable Development area, date on which the Strategic Mobility Plan 'M17' was presented.

But with the departure of MC from the Executive after the breach of the government pact by today's Ana Belén Castejón transfuge, the paralysis came to the City Council through a management that has always fled from responsibility and planning in the medium and long term .

In this context, Jesús Giménez has remarked that for the Cartagena people "mobility is a strategic axis in which to cement a sustainable municipality, accessible to all and responsible with its surroundings and the Environment".

"We have a sedentary government, accommodated in the armchair, without project and without concerns. That is why we have made a concrete and complete proposal to boost mobility in Cartagena."

Implementation of the 'M17' program

Then, he began by explaining that "the first measure we promote is of great importance. We consider it essential that the Government assumes the integral implementation of the Strategic Mobility Plan 'M17', devised during the Mayor's Office of José López."

"At present," the mayor has continued, "almost all of these initiatives have been neglected by the Executive or implemented in precarious. We have a solid work base and sponsored by technical criteria, although it is still paralyzed by the Government".

It should be remembered that among the twenty measures included in this Plan are the application of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan in La Manga;

the drafting of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan in Cartagena;

the establishment of intermodal areas of public transport;

the regulation of access to the restricted areas of the center;

the 'zones 30';

the creation of 'superblocks', or the increase of semi-pedestrian zones.

Six million euros, investment until 2023

More specifically, Giménez has put numbers to this claim, advocating to include "a multi-annual budget item of at least one million euros each year during the current term to reach six million for the approval of the 2023 budget. No it is worth it with a declaration of intent because they have no word. And Cartagena can no longer wait. "

Other initiatives refer to the regulation, through ordinance, of personal mobility vehicles or the establishment of tax credits for electric vehicles.

Also, the entry into force of the 'Cartagena by motorcycle' program, promoted by MC.

Breaches of the local PP and the CARM

The cartagenerista leader has continued to define priorities.

At the local level, "we demand the termination of the bike lane between Cartagena and La Unión, a project that the PP of Cartagena, which now governs again, boycotted in its day."

Subsequently, he reminded "the regional partners of the local government", his obligation, breached until the date of "increasing up to two million euros per year the subsidy to urban transport of the municipality, in addition to the transfer of traffic that, being municipal , manages the Autonomous Community ".

Finally, Jesús Giménez said that it is "essential to demand the improvement of the regional service to La Manga from Cartagena, the one known as 'Bus Manga' and the connection with Corvera and the rest of the Campo de Cartagena region."
