MC: "The Government tries to avoid the consensus to put the new Honors and Distinctions Regulations at its service" (12/12/2019)

On November 6, the Local Government Board approved the start of the file for the elaboration of a new Protocol, Honors and Distinctions Regulations for the City Council of Cartagena.

Given this, and within the deadline for the presentation of considerations and contributions, the Municipal Group MC Cartagena, through its spokesman, José López, has sent a letter to try to prevent the new document promoted by the local government from making " the recognition with a more meager majority. "

Because of this, López has expressed that "we regret that the imposition is sought in the face of consensus and that, in this effort, the priority is to reduce the number of votes necessary to grant such important honors."

Thus, he has advanced that "we will be opposed to solutions that seek to simplify and thereby devalue the recognition and facilitate the use and political abuse of the institution."

In this line, the Cartagenerist formation will continue to "propose and support those recognitions that respond to the undoubted merits of Cartagena of any age", recalling the fact that the previous Regulation is in force 23 years "gives an idea of the low importance that has been given to this matter, institutional disinterest only truncated in the previous legislature under the Mayor of MC Cartagena ".

Artillery Regiment, official chroniclers and the flag of the Maritime Province

In addition, among other issues, he has taken the opportunity to remember that "the Regiment of Antiaircraft Artillery No. 73 (RAAA 73) awaits the award of the Cartagena Gold Medal since we proposed it in November 2017".

He has also insisted on the position of MC to "claim the figure of our four official chroniclers, Mr. Francisco J. Franco Fernández, Mr. José Sánchez Conesa, Mr. Luis Miguel Pérez Adán and Mr. Juan Ignacio Ferrández García, highlighting the Opportunity for Cartagena "to have the four in equality, both for its different and always complementary vision and for the need for Cartagena and its region not to be erased from history books."

In this regard, he recalled the initiative presented by the Cartagena formation during the Plenary session last December 4, which was rejected by the municipal government, to provide technical and economic means to the work of the chroniclers.

López has also called attention to the rejection caused by the current municipal officials of the flag of the Maritime Province of Cartagena as a result of his "ignorance", understanding that the new Regulation represents an excellent opportunity to "make reference to official symbols and flags of non-municipal scope and its exhibition in courtesy masts and other places on the occasion of commemorations ".

An endless list of paralyzed files

Similarly, he pointed out that there are dozens of paralyzed files such as the one at gate 1-21 of the Cartagonova stadium dedicated by plenary agreement to the 'Jabato' Sagarduy and pending processing a year and a half later, as well as others, also proposed by MC , which should be a priority such as Blanca Roldán or Antonio de Escaño, "in addition to those we do not know and that, without a doubt, have proposed the Cartagena".

Among other considerations, it has drawn attention to the need to regulate "the placement of commemorative plaques, especially due to the desire of some active leaders to place them at any price, since it should be remembered that in the last legislature there were municipal works in those that the plate that we paid the Cartagena were of greater dimensions than the public work graceful with it, or that work in the section of monuments, both in quality and location ", prioritizing issues such as the return of the sculpture and base from Isidoro Máiquez to his place in the center of the San Francisco roundabout, the execution of the sculpture by Blas de Lezo or the launch of the gallery of illustrious sailors such as Isaac Peral or Juan Fernández.

Finally, José López has concluded by ratifying MC's commitment in "the search for consensus and sincere and deserved recognition, recognition of the characters and events that are part of our history, moving away from opportunism and always with the noble objective of disseminating our historical, cultural and human heritage.
