Last days to enroll in the Entre Cuerdas y Metales program (05/12/2019)

The contest of classical music Between Strings and Metals, organized by the Department of Youth and the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, started the XXIII Edition honoring this year, one of the greats in the history of music: LvBeethoven, since in the 2020, the 250th anniversary of the birth of this great composer will be commemorated.

The registration period will end on December 18, 2019. Registration can be delivered to the Department of Youth, Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, or by registered mail.

As for the modalities, this year as a novelty, the barbed instruments and the harp have been added in the Pulsed String modality, thus counting with 8 modalities:

Piano

String (violin, viola, cello, double bass)

Woodwind (transverse flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon)

Metal wind (trombone, trumpet, horn, tuba)

Percussion

Pulsed String (classical guitar, flamenco guitar, pick instruments, harp)

Voice (lyric singing, singing applied to dramatic art, flamenco singing)

Chamber music

Students who are studying Professional Music Teaching, in any of the modalities convened, born or who accredit their residence in the Region of Murcia, as well as students who are studying music in any of the specialties convened at any Center of Participation may participate Musical studies or Conservatories of the Region.

Those born or resident in the region of Murcia will have to prove that they are enrolled in a Conservatory or Center for Musical Studies.

In Voice, participation is also opened to students of the Superior School of Dramatic Arts of Murcia.

This year it is established, as in previous editions, in each of the modalities two phases: one eliminator and one final, where the contestants will interpret the works that will be of free choice in any case, taking place in the months of March and April, in the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena.

The awards ceremony and the closing concert of the contest will be on April 30 in the Isidoro Máiquez Hall of the Auditorium and Congress Hall El Batel where the Jury's decision will be made public in all modalities.

Another of the novelties of this year in promotional activities, the possibility of the winning group playing at the Festival "Classics in Museums", organized by the Department of Culture, in September 2020 is added to the Chamber Music Modality .

Remember also that, within the activities planned to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth, we will be able to enjoy the extraordinary Concert Between Strings and Metals on March 5, 8:00 p.m.

in the Auditorium El Batel that will bring together three musicians, former winners of the contest between strings and metals, performing the Concerto for violin, cello and piano in C major, op.

56, known as the Triple Concert.

The program is completed with the Coriolano Overture, op.

62. and Beethoven's Fourth Symphony.

Cello: Irene Ortega Albaladejo (1st Prize VIII Contest Between Strings and Metals)

Piano: Gabriel Escudero Braquehais (I Prize II Contest Between Strings and Metals)

Tickets are already on sale at the El Batel Auditorium with a single ticket price of € 8, with 50% discounts for conservatory students and youth.

Another activity that we will carry out is 'Beethoven on wheels', a traveling music road program, throughout the entire day of December 16, date on which Beethoven was born, with live performances by musicians of the Young Orchestra Cartagena Symphony, inside the urban bus of line 18, interpreting at all times works by Beethoven.

Raúl López will play at the top, José Manuel Parrón and Antonio García at the trombone, Ana Ros with the flute, Yolanda Sordo on the violin, Francisco José Franco and Adrián José Carreto on the saxophone.
