Schools are still waiting for the evolution of DANA in the next few hours (02/12/2019)

The educational centers of the municipality will remain open pending the evolution of the orange alert in the next few hours, not ruling out the timely closure of any of them if the situation advises it early in the morning and is determined by the Ministry of Education, with which the City Council remains in constant coordination,

The Municipal Crisis Cabinet, chaired by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has finalized the entire device due to heavy rain forecasts, up to 100 liters per square meter in 12 hours and winds of more than 70 kilometers per hour, for which they have mobilized preventively the services and municipal concessionaires and the collaboration of the military detachments of the city has been requested.

From the City Council, citizens are recommended to take the utmost precaution, avoiding unnecessary displacements and risks, at all times following the indications made by official bodies through the media and social networks.

Throughout the night, three reception centers will remain open in case the situation worsens and some citizens decide to leave their homes.

Specifically, the Felix de la Rodríguez de la Fuente school, in Los Nietos;

the social premises of Los Urrutias, and the municipal pavilion of Barrio de Peral-Cuatro Santos, where there will be municipal officials and Civil Protection volunteers.

In addition, the different evacuation points in neighborhoods and districts have been planned for possible flooding in each of them.

The eventual evacuation of areas such as Caravaning Villas, Bella Bay and La Algamenca Chica has also been planned, for which it would count with the collaboration of personnel and media of the Artillery and Marine Corps regiment.

During the afternoon of today, municipal services with the help of the concessionaires have continued with the cleaning of scuppers and sewers of the sewerage network, checking the operation of the pumping stations and treatment plants, removal of containers in the runoff areas, especially in the towns of the Mar Menor.

It has also been collected of fences and signs for the cutting of roads, from which the road of the Siphon and La Palma-La Aparecida have already been cut.

Likewise, ditches have been made in the vicinity of the Cartagonova stadium along with the execution of brick walls to prevent the entry of water and actions have been carried out in La Aljorra, Pozo Estrecho and La Palma.

Both Local Police, as Firefighters and Civil Protection have reinforced the afternoon and evening shifts and have proceeded to the inspection of waterways and parking in the channels.

During the morning, local police will reinforce the entrances and exits of the schools.

The mayor of Cartagena will maintain permanent contact with the Government Delegation and the Autonomous Community during the next few hours.
