Cartagena for the inclusion and integrity of people with Disabilities (28/11/2019)

On December 3, Cartagena will join the worldwide celebration of People with Disabilities Day with events throughout the week in order to eliminate obstacles and achieve their full inclusion in the municipality.

It was this Thursday, December 28, when all the activities have been presented at the City Hall, which will be held from Sunday 1 and until Thursday, December 5, by the deputy mayor, Noelia Arroyo, along with president by Plena Inclusión and ASTUS, Joaquín Barberá, and the manager of Jimbee Cartagena Futsal, Juan Giménez.

They have also been accompanied by the Councilors of Social Services, Mercedes García, and Sports Delegate, Diego Ortega, on the occasion of the collaboration of both areas in the events, as well as representatives of all entities of persons with disabilities collaborating in the program.

The vice mayor recalled that this day has already been celebrated since the beginning of the week at the City Hall with the inauguration of the Technical Accessibility Office, which will allow the control center to be focused on a municipal body, as well as the graduation of the first seven ASIDO graduates in Vocational training.

Thus, the activities will officially begin on Sunday with a solidarity march under the motto 'Cartagena for inclusion', which will leave at 11 am from the Plaza de España to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where a manifesto will be read by the entities collaborators

Highlights among the events of the program, the great sports meeting that will be held on Monday with activities in the Sports Palace of Cartagena and the Cartagonova stadium.

"It will be the greatest experience of inclusive sport that has been developed so far in Cartagena because the city teams have turned to us," said Arroyo, with the participation of a total of nine clubs and forty TAFAL volunteers, "The intention of this Government is to make contact between athletes with disabilities and athletes of our first teams more frequent throughout the year."

On Tuesday 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, will revolve around the integration with a round table around the I Municipal Disability Plan, together with a talk on inclusive leisure and the institutional declaration of adherence to the inclusion objectives for part of the City Hall.

All this will be held in the Hall of Degrees of the former CIM.

Finally, on days 4 and 5 you will enter a cultural offer with a tour of the sculptures of Cartagena guided by the sculptor Juan José Quirós, a visit to Kraser's exhibition at the Roman Theater and a recital by Miguel Alcantud and María Dolores Cayuela

II MUNICIPAL DISABILITY PLAN

In order to continue working for full inclusion, the deputy mayor has announced that the next Plenary Session of the City Council will have the presentation of the new Municipal Disability Plan, being the second, prepared by technicians from the Department of Social Services from the contributions from a fortnight of municipal services and 38 entities of people with disabilities.

This second plan will follow a line of work along the axis of leisure, culture and sport.

"Enjoying them is a right and for us it is an obligation to work to remove the obstacles that prevent it," he explained, "we have to improve the accessibility of sports facilities and we have to encourage the practice of inclusive sport."
