The municipal government demands explanations from Justice for rejecting the Peninsular as a judicial seat (23/11/2019)

The Cartagena government has demanded an urgent meeting with the Ministry of Justice to ask for explanations for rejecting the Peninsular hotel for the paralyzed courts due to lack of space, said the Vice Mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo.

Arroyo has reproached the ministry for announcing now that "they have no money to fix a building handed over for free by the City Council in the center of Cartagena to install courts that the ministry itself considers urgent."

“We want to know what is the cost that they don't want to invest in Cartagena.

Tell us what is the investment that Cartagena does not deserve.

We do not understand the lack of sensitivity of the Ministry with such an urgent need of Cartagena and the lawyers Thursday and prosecutors of Cartagena.

The vice mayor recalled that the Bar Association supported this option and said that for the municipal government “it is difficult to understand why the ministry is unable to accept a free three-story building in the historic center.

If the technical problems were as serious as rejecting them, the offer would have been ruled out during the visit and not after the elections. ”

Noelia Arroyo has said that the Cartagena government is going to demand “an urgent meeting to explain to us how much the project does not want to do.

That they tell us what the ministry intends to do with a municipality without space for the courts it needs and pending to create a City of Justice ”.
