Jesús Giménez demands 'La Trinca' the signing of the security agreement in the port promoted by José López (17/11/2019)

This week, the Municipal Group MC Cartagena, through its deputy spokesman, Jesús Giménez, announced the plenary initiative to require the local government to "resume contacts with the Port Authority for the heading and entry into force of the collaboration agreement between the City Hall and the Port Authority for the prevention and extinction of fires in the port area, promoted by the City Hall of MC and paralyzed by Castejón and the regional PP ".

Then, the leader of MC said that "the agreement was ready for approval in 2017, but the veto of the regional PP and the complacency of Seville left it in a drawer, despite our repeated requests."

"What is at stake is the safety of workers, visitors and neighbors. We continue to receive tourists while we accumulate a vacuum regarding the safety prevention protocol in case of industrial accidents, something that also happens in other locations and that we are assessing for another initiative, such as the Escombreras Valley, Navantia or La Aljorra, "he has continued to reason.

"We find it alarming that not one such circumstance reacts to those of 'La Trinca'. We hope that at least our motion includes this almost protocol act on the agenda and, four years later, we have a regulatory framework for security and peace of mind. our neighbors, "said Jesús Giménez.

Subsequently, the councilor of MC recalled that "the agreement agreed by José López extended for five years with an annual contribution of around 250,000 euros, a significant amount to intensify the technical collaboration between administrations; provide the port with a service of extinction of permanent fires and specialized in port risks, and bet on the improvement of equipment and the training of our firefighters ".

"We will demand in the Plenary that they do not rely on procedural or protocol excuses to avoid their responsibilities. Arroyo and Castejón charge from the Port Authority but do nothing when they go to the Council. It is time that they face their responsibilities and implement active policies of prevention and efficient actions ", concluded the deputy spokesman of MC Cartagena.
