The 48th edition of the FICC will pay tribute to the American director, David Lynch (08/11/2019)

'Blue velvet', 'The erasing head' or 'The elephant man' are some classic films of the Seventh Art, directed by the American filmmaker, David Lynch, which will be screened, from November 24 to 30, in the 48th edition of the Festival Cartagena International Film FICC.

This ode to the cinema is organized by the Ficcmoteca, with the sponsorship of the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena and the collaboration of various institutions and companies in the Region.

The details of the 70 films that will be seen in Cartagena during this month have been offered on the morning of November 8 by the Councilor for Culture of the City of Cartagena, Carlos Piñana, the president of the FICC, Ignacio Ros and the director of the festival Esther Baeza

Also, the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, has attended.

This year, the Cartagena film festival focuses most of its programming on films and the figure of the American director, David Lynch.

In addition to the aforementioned films, the documentary 'David Lynch: The Art Life', by directors Jon Nguyen and Rick Barnes, will be screened on Monday, November 25, where the day-to-day and filmmaker's creation process will be narrated, to from 4:30 p.m., in the Luzzy.

The Cajamurcia Foundation Culture Classroom also hosts a very Lynchian activity on Friday, November 22, at 8:00 p.m.

This is the photographic exhibition 'Psychogenic Fugue', by the American photographer, Sandro Miller, where attendees will see 8 photos starring actor John Malkovich characterized by the most iconic characters in the Lynch film universe, in addition to the screening of the documentary based at the exhibition at the opening of the festival, on Sunday, November 24, starting at 8 p.m., in room B of the El Batel Municipal Auditorium.

The poster of this 48 edition is based on one of the photographs that will be seen in the exhibition.

The Councilor for Culture, Carlos Piñana, said that the children and youth of the municipality can also enjoy this festival with a schedule based on the Japanese anime films of the founder of Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki.

The films in question are: 'My Neighbor Totoro', 'Princess Mononoke', 'Chihiro's Journey' or 'The Wind Rises', all of them projected at the Luzzy, on November 25, 26, 27, 28 , after 10 hours.

Also, other animated films can be seen those same days and on Friday 29, starting at 9:45 a.m., in Room B of El Batel, such as' The Magic Park ',' Astérix: The Potion Secret magic ',' Dilili in Paris', 'How to train your dragon 3' and 'Caveman'.

On Friday, November 29, at Luzzy, at 10 am, 'Young Amateur Shorts' will be held, where the short films presented by the ESO and Bachelor students of the educational centers of the Region of Murcia will be screened.

During this activity the name of the short winner will be revealed.

The music cannot be missed during this festival and this year the one in charge of interpreting the soundtrack has been the Murcian Poolshake with their song 'Sick & tired'.

In addition, the Sauces Musical Group will offer attendees on Sunday, November 24, at 12 noon, in the Plaza del Icue, a concert of film soundtracks and Leslie Drivers and Stolen will perform a concert in the same place, at 19 hours , next Saturday, November 16.

A total of 30 short films have been selected to participate in the FICC48, among the more than 650 works received, twelve in the Official Section, between national and foreign shorts, and eighteen in MURCINE, short films by filmmakers from the Region of Murcia.

The shorts of the Official Section will compete for the 3,000 euros with which the Best Short Film is awarded and, in addition, there will be awards for the Best Direction, Photography, Screenplay and Interpretation.

The films will be screened in Room B of El Batel.

On the other hand, in the MURCINE section, the first prize 'Caravel de Plata Ciudad de Cartagena' is endowed with 1,500 euros, while the second, the 'Peral Submarine', is worth it with 500 euros.

The films will be screened in the Luzzy.

During the closing of the festival that will be on Saturday, November 30, in Hall A of El Batel, from 20:30 hours, in addition to the screening of the film 'Specials', various prizes will be given, including, the newspaper La Verdad will be recognized for its cinematographic diffusion and the Murcian filmmaker Alfonso Albacete for his professional career.

Albacete has directed numerous films such as 'I will survive', 'Atomic', 'Lies and fat' or 'Only chemistry'.

Also this year the Container will be installed, from Monday 25 to Friday 29 November, at 5 pm, in the Plaza de Héroes de Cavite, where short films by David Lynch will be screened.

Tickets for the projections at the Batel can be purchased on the festival or auditorium website and at the box office.

There are 6 movie bonuses for 15 euros or each ticket for 3 euros.

Tickets for the Luzzy are free.
