The UPCT and women of reference will enhance this course the talent of 30 students between 15 and 17 years of age with the "Púlsar" program (07/11/2019)

The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), through the Social Council and the Everis Foundation, will connect 30 students between 15 and 17 years of age with high capacities and risk of exclusion with women of reference in society.

They will do so through the Púlsar - Red Mentoras program of the Everis Foundation with the aim of helping them to realize their full potential and prevent them from dropping out.

This is the third year that the program has been underway and given the success of previous editions, the Everis Foundation and the UPCT Social Council have decided to expand the number of tutors.

The program began three years ago with 5 students tutored and continued last year with 10 young people.

In this edition, 30 girls from three different institutes in Cartagena will be selected.

The UPCT today hosted a meeting in which the mentors were informed of the activities related to the Púlsar program, which are references in fields such as teaching, cultural, health, political, judicial or business.

Specifically, this edition will be held from December to June.

During that period, the mentors will hold a monthly meeting with the girls in which they will be motivated to continue their studies and will try to make the most of their full potential.

The methodology of this initiative is based on “learning by doingâ€, and the work method is oriented to curiosity, exploration, discovery, interaction and creation of content, as well as reflection and connection of these learnings with their day to day.

The Pulsar program refers to a particular type of star, the pulsar (an English acronym for "pulsating star"), which emits very intense radiation at short and regular intervals, and also has an intense magnetic field.

The analogy between this type of stars is established with the mentors, as irradiators of knowledge and motivation, and with the girls, as small stars that shine with their own light.
