VISIT TO THE SAGRADO CORAZÓN PATRONATO SCHOOL

The Cultural Association Modernist Friends of Cartagena made this Monday, November 4, a visit to the Patronato Sagrado Corazón school, with its Assembly Hall full of students, where the situation of Cartagena in the modernist era was explained, the use of the cape Spanish, life in the mine, the existing caciquismo, the culture of Cartagena and the history of the emblematic building of the Patronato.

The children were given several sheets of buildings and streets of Cartagena in the modernist era, which they welcomed with great satisfaction.

When it was time for questions, the children wanted to know about the school education of the years of modernism, with special emphasis on the punishments imposed on them by teachers.

President Diego Campillo, like Vice President Agustín Ibáñez, related details of some punishments they knew, for example, putting their arms crossed supporting the weight of some books, patting them on the palm of their hands, being punished on their knees or looking at Wall.

Another of the topics that interested the students was about modernist social life, such as the cinemas that were in Cartagena, the grocery stores of the place and also asked about the supply of water for domestic use.
